January 20, 2011--Atlanta Building Company Named NARI 2011 Regional Contractor of the Year

Des Plaines, Illinois, January 20, 2011. The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) named Atlanta Building Company, in Grayson, GA, 2011 Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) in the Residential Kitchen $40,000 to $80,000 category of its annual awards competition.

Atlanta Building Company was founded for the purpose of providing exceptional value and quality for projects of virtually all sizes and budgets. Most construction companies pay very little attention to purchasing of materials and labor costs. Instead, they choose to work in a comfort zone of select suppliers and subcontractors.  This comfort zone might make it easier to manage the construction, but it does not insure that the customer is getting the best value.  Atlanta Building Company’s mission is to provide superior remodeling and building services for their clients, while carefully managing project costs to insure the customer will get the best value possible.

Contractors from seven regions around the country vie for CotY Awards on an annual basis, and all regional winners will now be eligible for the National CotY Awards. National winners will be honored at NARI’s Evening of ExcellenceSM on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the Westin Jersey City Newport.

The owners of this home wanted a kitchen that would allow them to have a place to pursue their interest in cooking. Both lead busy professional lives and wanted a new kitchen they would look forward to coming home to and enjoying quiet evening meals as well as entertaining guests in comfort. The project encompassed the complete kitchen remodel, expanding the home office above and updating the existing fireplace in the family room.

All projects submitted for judging were an improvement or an addition to an existing structure, with the exception of one category, Residential Exterior Specialty. Otherwise, new construction projects were not eligible.

In addition, competing projects were completed between July 1 of 2009 and November 30 of 2010 and were not submitted in prior NARI National contests. An impartial panel of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrants binders, which include before and after photography and project descriptions. Judging focused on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.

Trophies will be awarded at the Evening of ExcellenceSM at the Westin Jersey City Newport on April 2, 2011, where National CotY Winners and Achievement Award Winners will also be announced and awarded.

The Evening of ExcellenceSM is widely considered to be the premier event of the year in the remodeling industry. It will be attended by more than 350 of the industry’s elite.

To be considered for a CotY Award, a company must be a NARI member in good standing. The entries making up this year’s competition totaled $93 million in remodeling projects. NARI members represent an elite group of the approximately 800,000 companies and individuals in the U.S. identifying themselves as remodelers.

March 23, 2010--Certified Professional Home Builder

Grayson, GA – Atlanta Building Company, a home builder in Gwinnett County has been named a Certified Professional Home Builder of Georgia (CPHB℠) by The Housing Institute, Inc.

To obtain this certification, Atlanta Building Company agreed to meet a variety of criteria, including having at least three years of home building experience, offering an approved limited warranty and mandatory binding arbitration, maintaining appropriate insurance coverage, providing a total of 14 references from homeowners, trade contractors, suppliers and financial institutions and passing a code certification exam. We also agreed to complete 16 hours of continuing education each year to maintain this certification, which must be renewed annually. Of the 700 builders belonging to the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA), less than 200 have the CPHBâ„¢ designation.

“We are proud to receive this important certification,” said John Southwell. It recognizes our long-standing commitment to solid customer service and home building professionalism.”

The Georgia legislators passed a builder licensing law that went into effect July 2008, but the law “grandfathered” most of Georgia’s current builders. This law left homebuyers with the same list of builders as before. The first of its kind in the State of Georgia, this voluntary certification program was created to connect the home buying public with Certified Professional Home Builders of Georgia who are dedicated to maintaining the highest level of professionalism, customer service and homeowner satisfaction. The program, administered by The Housing Institute, Inc., was created to promote home building professionalism in the State of Georgia.
