John Southwell is a native Georgian that moved to the Atlanta area in 1973. Many years were spent working for some of the largest and most respected construction companies in the city. He has worked in the residential and commercial construction industries for over 35 years and has successfully completed over $500 million in construction projects. His career path started as a residential designer and superintendent, but developed quickly to VP of Construction and then President of several high-volume construction companies. In addition to construction management, John has received extensive training and experience in estimating, purchasing, accounting, and scheduling. Some of John’s credentials are as follows:

Director of Business Development
Trey Thigpen joined Atlanta Building Company in early 2016. Although new to the construction industry, he has spent the last 20 years in the transportation industry in operations management, finance, and consulting roles. He is a Georgia native and has lived in the Atlanta area for the last 17 years. Trey earned a BBA from Mercer University, MBA from Georgia Tech, and holds PMP and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certifications.

Katie Southwell has been a part in Atlanta Building Company since the business was founded in 2007. She is experienced in accounting, human resources, marketing, and multiple other areas relating to the Construction Industry. Katie is knowledgeable in new construction, remodeling, and universal design. Outside of work, Katie has attended multiple certification classes, is a student at the University of North Georgia and a pianist.

Jill has just joined Atlanta Building Company in November 2016. Jill has worked in the construction industry with a commercial roofing company for over 10 years. She has over 25 years in accounts payable, account receivable, customer services, payroll, HR and team management.

Jason has been an estimator and project manager for both residential and commercial projects in the Atlanta area for over 15 years. As a project manager, Jason managed construction budgets on homes over 10,000 square feet in size and designed by some of Atlanta’s most renowned architects. He is also a Certified AutoCAD Draftsman, which aids in the facilitation and creation of project drawings as needed for field clarification. In addition to shop drawings, Jason has produced full sets of construction drawings for residential and commercial projects as well.

Mike, a graduate of the Georgia Tech College of Architecture, and a State of Georgia Registered Architect, has specialized in residential design for over 30 years. Mike’s work has been featured in magazine articles and on HGTV. His designs have earned several local, state and national awards.
Mike believes the Design-Build method, where the architect and builder acting in unison, is the best and most efficient way to bring the homeowner’s dreams to fruition. The homeowner benefits because he will be dealing with a single source of responsibility.

Austin has worked in custom furniture and lighting design, space planning and art curation, and even in carpentry and construction. With a passion for the sculptural and the physical space, Austin relies on his 10 years experience as an interior designer to better develop the project at hand. With broad knowledge of the decorative arts, Austin is able to develop a vision for a project, always with an eye open to the inspiration around every corner. His works have been featured in Architectural Digest, House Beautiful and Luxe Magazine.

Nathan has been in the construction industry for over 10 years.Â His prior experience includes management of residential construction for a new home builder. He owned a Carpentry Company and handled remodeling, project planning, and execution.
Nathan and his family have lived in Georgia since 2005. He is originally from the Mid-West. Before settling into the Construction Business, he attended Western Michigan University.
